Anti-overcharge additive

The main function of the anti-overcharge additive is to block the current in a certain way when the battery is overcharged, thereby improving the safety of the battery. According to the function, it can be divided into two kinds: redox pair additive and polymerization monomer additive.

Add a suitable redox couple to the electrolyte. When the charging voltage exceeds the normal charging and discharging voltage of the battery, the additive is oxidized on the positive electrode, the oxidation product diffuses to the anode to be reduced, and the reduction product diffuses to the positive electrode to be oxidized. The whole process is cyclically carried out until the overcharge of the battery ends. At present, the redox pair additive is mainly anisole series, which has high redox potential and good solubility.

When overcharging, the electropolymerization additive will oxidize and polymerize on the surface of the positive electrode, and the oxidation product will cover the surface of the positive electrode, resulting in an increase in resistance and a decrease in current, thereby achieving safety protection. The polymerization monomer additive mainly includes aromatic compounds such as xylene and phenylcyclohexane.
